Join us on a gay and lesbian tour of the Chelsea galleries. Past tours have had a great crowd so don't miss this one! The art in the galleries changes continually, so this tour will be completely different from prior ones. Featured on this tour will be a number of galleries with art by leading gay artists, including a major exhibit of 50 photographs by famed and notorious photographer Robert Mappelthorpe!
New York City is the world's center for contemporary art, and home to some of the finest art galleries anywhere. New York Gallery Tours' director Rafael Risemberg, Ph.D., visits over 200 art gallery exhibits each month in order to select 7 of the most fascinating and provocative ones for us to visit, in Chelsea and beyond. You'll see the very newest in painting, sculpture, electronic media and photography. At each stop on the walking tour, our guide explains the artwork and leads the group in lively discussion with a focus on art of interest to the LGBT community.
Like all of our events, all are welcome, but we especially welcome LGBT alumni from the ivy league and seven sisters schools, as well as our friends from Stanford, NYU, UVA, Duke, Northwestern, and Georgetown University. Feel free to bring your friends, boyfriends and girlfriends, but please let us know a count as space is limited!
Thanks to Shawn Cowls of FFR/Princeton BTGALA for organizing and to our tour guide Rafael Risemberg of Cornell University GALA and New York Gallery Tours. Rafael Risemberg, Ph.D., was the art critic for the New York Blade. For more information, visit New York Gallery Tours at
