”Beyond Binaries: Identity and the Sexuality Spectrum”
Wednesday October 13, 2010 at 7:30pm in Gamble Auditorium.

Author and speaker Robyn Ochs who will present a program entitled:”Beyond Binaries:
Identity and the Sexuality Spectrum” on Wednesday October 13, 2010 at 7:30pm in Gamble
Auditorium.

Those who identify as bisexual are often misunderstood. This talk builds on our work
towards greater understanding of diversity and the experiences of those who transgress the binary categories of gay/straight, masculine/feminine, black/white and/or male/female. The program will help explore how we assign labels to students’ complicated and unique experiences and the relationship between self-identity and how others view bisexuals. It will help us go beyond some of the stereotypes often associated with such labels.

Robyn Ochs is the editor of the 42-country anthology Getting Bi: Voices of Bisexuals
around the World and of the Bi Women newsletter. She has been an educator in this field for 25 years, and has taught several university courses on bisexual identity and presented at more than 400 colleges, universities and conferences in various countries. (www.robynochs.com)

This program, presented in conjunction with the University of Massachusetts’s Stonewall Center’s 25th LGBT anniversary celebration is sponsored by College Health Services, the Inclusiveness Initiative and the in*Touch Sexual Health Educators.
